The UK Budget is now normally published in the Autumn but HM Treasury have yet to announce a date for this year. Ministers will agree a timetable for Budget 2022-23 with the Finance and Public Administration Committee once the date of the UK Budget is known and this will be published and shared with other committees....

Under Standing Orders, lead committees have 40 non-recess days to consider and report on draft affirmative instruments, although the Parliament may suspend Standing Orders for particular cases.

I therefore intend to publish the Scottish Budget on Tuesday 19 December 2023. My officials have discussed this date with the SFC. Moving the budget date from 14 to 19 December loses only one sitting day of Parliament and I believe allows sufficient time, once Parliament returns from recess, for effective scrutiny and passage of the Budget bill.
