To ask the Scottish Executive what discussions were held between 16 and 31 May 2007 with employees involved in toll collection at the Forth Estuary Transport Authority concerning their employment.
We have had signals that de minimis exemptions may apply on some measures. We were told that it may not be worth while for small businesses to be included in some of the measures—the benefits may not outweigh the costs.
However, for the question of when things may or may not happen to the structural integrity of the bridge, the issue is fundamentally to do with corrosion, not relatively minor changes in traffic levels.

We support the efforts of local authorities who, under the Coast Protection Act 1949, may take any measures they consider necessary or expedient to protect any land in their area from coastal erosion.

To ask the Scottish Executive how local authorities are permitted to use capital receipts from the sale of buildings. Local authorities may use capital receipts from the sale of buildings to finance new capital expenditure or to repay the principal element of loans.
The Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise are in ongoing discussion on a suitable approach to any assessment which may be required under the habitats regulations.
