However, in that case the disadvantages are that it is likely that paramedics' skills would be used less and it would be difficult for them to keep their skills up to date. There would need to be a kind of exchange whereby paramedics would be brought into the main centres frequently—not for retraining, but for updating skills.

Yes, I really liked that and got quite excited about it, until I read the date—2050. If my relative Dennis Canavan thought it rather odd that it should take 20 years to eradicate child poverty, I wonder how he would feel about the fact that it will take 50 years to fulfil that commitment of a second pension.
