I believe that funding community groups and assisting them in the process would be more advantageous and would provide the real results that we are looking for.
That is work in progress. The making justice work programme is considering the issue. It is perhaps in alliance with Lord Carloway’s recommendations, but we are looking at it separately.
Section 57(2) contains a power for a local authority to make arrangements for the burial or cremation of persons who received assistance from the authority before their death.
What reassurances do you seek that some assistance might come your way to deal with the backlog and ensure that Scotland has the historic heritage that it needs?
