Energy Policy - Scotland
The promotion of renewable energy, the consenting of electricity generation and transmission development, and energy efficiency are currently devolved, with further powers to be devolved e.g. for the management of licences to exploit onshore oil and gas resources, and powers over supplier obligations regarding energy efficiency allowing considerable attention to be focussed on advancing research, development and deployment in these key areas, and giving Scottish Ministers some powers in governing the overall energy mix, including nuclear and other thermal generation via consenting powers.
