It is not acceptable that people who use pre-payment meters, not through choice but because their weekly budgets force them to, pay considerably more for fuel than do people who can take advantage of various discounts because they are better off and can afford to have bank accounts and pay their bills by direct debit.

My second point about renewables is this: The Herald reported on Monday that the value of glass from bottle banks is dropping to zero because the major company involved in recycling glass has found that the bottom has fallen out of the market, as the price of new glass is falling all the time.

It is, in fact, a danger to road safety to have such a differential between the speed limits for goods vehicles and other cars.I have just come back from holiday in New Zealand, where most of the roads, apart from bits of motorway near the cities, are single carriageway.

Christine Grahame pointed out—humorously, but correctly—the different drinking cultures of northern and southern Europe, which are climatically conditioned. When one is on holiday in Greece or Italy, one sees a very different culture.
