I understand that the background to the petition is that mothers have automatic parental responsibilities and rights, as do fathers who were registered on children’s birth certificates after May 2006, whereas fathers who were not married to their child’s mother before that date do not have automatic parental responsibilities and rights.

The 2010 act reforms, modernises and codifies the Scots law of arbitration, which was previously out of date, obscure and incomplete.
