To ask the Scottish Government how much the NHS has spent on (a) orphan, (b) branded medicines and (c) other medicines in each of the last five years.Â
To ask the Scottish Executive what arrangements are in place to support access to new medicines for cystic fibrosis. All new medicines are considered by the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) who operate independently from the Scottish Government.
A law that changes the relationship between medicine and mortality cannot simply be left to drift; it must be re-earned through evidence and accountability.
It is simply unacceptable for health boards and integration joint boards to single out those medicines and treat them differently from all other medicines.
Audit Scotland says that the NHS is critically short of staff. The Royal College of Emergency Medicine says that we are hundreds of A and E beds short.
In the past few days, we have heard warnings of recession, medicine shortages and pressure on food supplies, and we have seen the cancellation of a clinical trial at the Golden Jubilee hospital, and that makes the point clearer than ever.
