Female participation in sport and physical activity - Harassment and safety concerns
In Scottish cities, 39% of women think cycling is safe in their area vs 45% of men (walking and Cycling Index, 2022). Women cycle on average slower than men, and report a higher rate of near misses than men: they report around 50% more close passes per mile than men (Aldred, 2015).
