Based on the evidence that we get from the Scottish Court Service, the Scottish Legal Aid Board, local authorities and the Council of Mortgage Lenders, if the need arises and if anyone is objecting robustly, could we reserve half an hour to take verbal evidence from one panel of witnesses?

That would give us the whole picture—or, certainly, two particular viewpoints that it would be worth trying to get. I am interested in the petition because the consultation questionnaire did not seem to take into account the point that some mental health patients perhaps ought to be allowed to smoke in the establishments where they live.

While Two-salaries Salmond over there will be getting his prescriptions for free, patients all over Scotland will be losing out—losing out on 2,000 nurses, or nearly 200,000 magnetic resonance imaging scans, or huge quantities of life-saving cancer drugs, or a massive increase in the budget for hospital cleaning.
