It illustrates that the higher the share of "remain" votes in the 2016 Referendum, the higher the increase in support for the SNP between 2012 and 2017 (or the lower the decrease) tends to be. SPICe also looked at the link between the proportion of "remain" votes in 2016 and the total share of votes for each party in the 2017 local elections.
