I would say this but, if you look at awards picked up over the past number of years, in the broadcast digital awards last year, BBC Scotland titles won best drama and best documentary, which are the big competitive categories.
It might be helpful for us to receive formal or written briefings on how the procedure was meant to operate in best practice, just so that we can familiarise ourselves with the landscape.
I am not comfortable with there being a deadline, so that we say, “If you’ve missed the 28 days, you cannot have that produced in court”. There is a best-evidence rule—that is the principle in our system; we need the best-quality evidence.
I am not sure how much a new body would cost and whether it would be best for it to work on a Scotland-wide or a UK-wide basis to make best use of resources.
