To ask the Scottish Government how many teaching and support staff jobs at (a) Forth Valley College and (b) other further education colleges are at risk due to funding pressures. The Scottish Government does not hold information on staffing levels and future workforce plans: operational decisions are for individual colleges to determine.Colleges are responsible for making workforce-related decisions in line with legislative requirements, the Code of Good Governance for Scotland’s Colleges and the Scottish Funding Council’s Financial Memoranda.

That reflects the importance this Government places on having a highly skilled and remunerated workforce. This only includes funding provided to Local Government from the Scottish Government and does not take account of other sources of funding available to Local Government, such as council tax and other forms of income.Medium-term projections on workforce spending over the next five years will be set out in the forthcoming Medium Term Financial Strategy.
