Progress on remediating dangerous cladding: insights from property owners During the passage of the Housing (Cladding) Bill, the Minister for Housing committed to ensuring that every building affected by dangerous cladding would be put on a pathway towards obtaining a Single Buildings Assessment by the end of summer 2024. In August 2024 the Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee sought the views of people affected by cladding about what progress they were seeing since the Act came into force.

Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Bill – Evie Donaldson, Victim Support Scotland – Evie Donaldson, Victim Support Scotland • ED spoke to the Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Bill, where a vote was to take place on stage 3, highlighting a number of issues: o There was concern about the erosion of victims’ rights and the effect on women and girls who have experienced gender- based violence. o The removal of support for young women and girls, aged 16- 18 could lead to a 2-tiered system for victims. o There had been accounts of victims/survivors having to change schools to accommodate the abuser. o A result was victims and survivors disengaging from support. o The introduction of a single point of contact could bring significant improvements. o Training would need to be more robust. 2 o Briefings had been sent by Victim Support Scotland to all MSPs, ahead of the debate. th o 92 amendments were to be debated on 24 April. 3 Cross Party Business rd A.
