If a committee is examining a hugely topical and controversial issue that is of interest, it should be allowed to meet at the same time as the Parliament and not by exception, which is what has happened with Scotland Bill Committee meetings. Christine Grahame’s committee is doing something that has clearly attracted attention; the Scotland Bill Committee has attracted attention; and when we come to debate the alcohol bill there will be a huge interest in those proceedings.

In relation to NHS Ayrshire and Arran there have been discussions around diagnostic services particularly endoscopy services. A recovery plan has been put in place, this includes the use of a locum to reduce the number of patients waiting longer than the waiting time standard.
