The First Minister has written once to the new Prime Minister. The letter, dated 6 September 2022 and focusing on the cost crisis, was published on the Scottish Government website and a link is provided below.
Childcare requires not just school hour provision, but for true flexibility, it requires an agile wraparound service which can meet the varying meets of parents throughout the day and during the school holidays. At present many parents do not feel those needs can be met locally.
While the consultation document is ready for publication this year prior to recess, this timescale responds to an ask from a range of stakeholders to avoid publishing the consultation during a holiday period where those with an interest in the proposals work at a lower capacity.
