Bank closures: impact on local businesses, consumers and the Scottish economy - Charities and community groups

This was felt most heavily by charities and community councils who tend to have multiple signatories on the same account, change them on a regular basis, and for whom online banking is not easily available. The Committee notes the difficulties being experienced by community groups and charities in accessing banking services following the closure of branches and strongly recommends that the banks and the Post Office work with these customers to find a solution to this and to effectively communicate these arrangements to customers.
