It is clear that work is in progress, and it is important that we continue the petitions until the matter is driven forward. We should push to get a meeting and get responsibility for seat belt legislation devolved as far as we can.
However, we should commend the Lord President for getting on with things and for explaining, in his most recent letter, some points that we did not get round to discussing during our previous meeting due to shortness of time.

In oral evidence, the Food Foundation highlighted the participation activities undertaken, and resources required, as part of the development of the English national food plan.
I support progressing a smaller-scale research project, but would it be worth simply asking whether we could see a minister? If we cannot get a response, perhaps that would be the only way of getting anywhere.
That is that, if we are to achieve the objective of maximising economic recovery, the UK Government must step up to its role of using fiscal policy as a lever—nay, a precision tool—to get the maximum from the North Sea.
