To ask the Scottish Government what the estimated cost would be of introducing 20mph zones across Scotland, and what analysis has been undertaken on the potential cost to the Scottish economy of introducing 20mph speed limits.
What proportion of residential streets in urban areas should be 20mph zones? I think that nearly all residential streets are 20mph zones anyway— “Nearly all residential streets” should be 20mph zones.
The Committee completed Stage 2 of the Bill on 15 May 2019.
Restricted Roads (20mph Speed Limit) (Scotland) Bill
The Restricted Roads (20mph Speed Limit) (Scotland) Bill was introduced by Mark Ruskell MSP (the member in charge) on 21 September 2018.
Speed Limits (Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale) To ask the Scottish Government how many instances of failure to comply with the 20mph speed limit in Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale have been recorded since its introduction, including how many fines were subsequently issued as part of the enforcement of 20mph speed limits.
