I will keep my remarks as brief as I can, in the light of the reasons for the meeting and the committee’s existing familiarity with the Scottish statutory instrument and its amendments.
Island Air Routes (Viability) To ask the Deputy First Minister what the Scottish Government’s response is to the reported comments by Highlands and Islands Enterprise that cheaper air travel for business passengers could help to strengthen the viability of island routes.
He noted that over a period of 10 years (1996 to 2006) the association had proposed at least half a dozen conservation proposals to the Scottish Office and the Scottish Executive, and not one had been implemented.

In 2019, the Scottish Government set a target of net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2045.
While the response of the Scottish Government was broadly positive, the Scottish Government did not respond to a number of the specific recommendations in the report.
