The Scottish Government strongly endorses the Code of practice for the commercial property sector Code of practice for the commercial property sector - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) and expect landlords and tenants to come together to arrive at a mutually beneficial agreement.
This means that decisions taken by Ministers, individually or collectively, are binding on all members of the Government. The Scottish Ministerial Code sets out this principle, which applies to all Ministers.

In support of that commitment The Code of Practice on Sustainable and Regenerative Agriculture published in March 2026 highlights the types of activities that can be adopted on a farm or croft, that will contribute to ever more resilient agricultural production.

Additionally the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) are responsible for the registration and regulation of Social Care staff in Scotland. The SSSC Codes set the national standards of practice that employees must follow in their daily work; where standards are not met the SSSC has the power to take action.
Under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, businesses handling returned scheme packaging will have an obligation to take all reasonable steps to ensure it is managed in a manner that promotes high-quality recycling. The associated code of practice makes clear that crushing mixed-colour glass should be avoided where possible.
