A man would not accept that happening to their mother, sister, girlfriend or wife, so they need to ask themselves why it makes them feel like a big man to intimidate a girl who is sitting alone on a train. I am told that the gen Z generation has a far better attitude in relation to not accepting that kind of unacceptable behaviour, although I have no idea what “gen Z” actually means—this was from a conversation with my daughter.

When I had Mr Hepburn’s role in Government, the issue was looked at, and I fell on the side of thinking that the practical solution is to have two ballot papers—one going from A to Z and one going from Z to A. That would mean that those who were in the middle would be in the middle.
