Facial recognition: how policing in Scotland makes use of this technology
The representation of that face is then compared to a database of known faces, which are sometimes referred to as a “watchlist”. The system identifies the best match amongst the faces in the database and determines whether the match is close enough to be considered a ‘hit’.

Negotiating the future UK and EU relationship
The Political Declaration anticipates a "framework for voluntary regulatory cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including exchange of information and sharing of best practice." This language is very generic, and essentially defers to the result of the negotiations resulting from both parties promoting their economic and policy interests.

P.B. 2020, 155, 7.One legal commentator explained the resulting dilemma (and possible solution) in this way:
... there is a clear risk that if someone decides to pursue a complaint to the SPSO, and it later transpires that the complaint raises issues more suited to be dealt with by ... the court, that the person will be out with the time limit for raising such proceedings... it will be best practice to consider at the earliest possible stage whether judicial review proceedings may be appropriate.

Stage 1 Report on the Wild Animals in Travelling Circuses (Scotland) Bill
The Committee received several written submissions highlighting the deep affection for animals within a circus environment and how, both emotionally and economically, it was not in the circuses' interests to provide anything but the very best care and environment for animals.

Revised UK Agriculture Bill 2020
Scottish MPs raised that they felt the Bill was straying into areas of devolved competence;
the need for new measures of success for agriculture beyond yield;
the lack of provision for farm advice in the Bill, to support farmers to make the transition;
a lack of vision to protect rural communities;
a lack of provision to protect agricultural workers;
Environment:
the need to maintain food production abroad so not to risk offshoring the UK's environmental impact;
disappointment that the Bill is not clearer about financially rewarding a transition to 'agroecology', or a whole-farm approach to agriculture with the environment at its core;
the need to enshrine baseline environmental standards that all farmers should adhere to, whether in receipt of funding or not, and the lack of provision for this in the Bill;
that the Bill is not ambitious enough about climate change or the environment by banning the most damaging practices and taking on board best...
