Members' Business motions that have not achieved cross party support *S6M-13307 Maggie Chapman: Ending Conversion Practices—That the Parliament notes the Scottish Government’s commitment to legislate to ban conversion practices; further notes the belief that this is a vital step forward in ensuring that everyone in Scotland can live their lives free from marginalisation and discrimination, including in the North East Scotland region; acknowledges the findings of the Scottish Government’s Expert Advisory Group on Ending Conversion Practices, which concluded, amongst other things, that a ban would not lead to unlawful restrictions on existing freedoms, such as freedom of speech or belief, and that any ban must recognise the inability of victims to consent to these practices; notes the work undertaken by the Equalities, Human Rights and Civil Justice Committee on this issue and its unanimous report in 2022 in favour of a comprehensive ban on conversion practices; further notes the consultation carried out by the Scottish Government on ending conversion practices for both sexual orientation and gender identity, which closed on 2 April 2024, and notes the calls for the Scottish Government to publish the findings of this consultation as soon as possible, along with a timetable for legislation to ban conversion practices before the end of the current parliamentary session.
