Often, there are animated discussions in Scotland about the role of journalism and often, we see advocacy journalism of the worst kind, whereby analysis and commentary are moulded and thrown into fact. The amendment would replace "as soon as practicable" with "immediately".If we go ahead with the wording as it stands, I am certain that the legislation would be challenged and we could find ourselves in difficulty. It is best practice for an accused person to be brought before a court at the earliest possible opportunity.

I have been contacted by many constituents who are frustrated that they are unable to take public transport that goes directly between Airdrie and Edinburgh. At present, the best they can do is drive to Harthill and join an express coach service to Edinburgh.
