No part of amendment 36 seeks to permit anyone in Scotland to hold a large wedding party or reception of any sort. All that is needed for a lawful marriage or civil partnership ceremony to take place in Scotland is the presence of five people: the registrar, the two parties to the marriage or civil partnership and two witnesses.

I accept your point about potential difficulties, but we need to consider how many organisations that receive grants of £10,000 or £20,000 from local authorities provide a good service in mental health advice, helping people to access benefits or supporting people.When the head of a small organisation that helps women with their mental health attended our recent parliamentary reception, she expanded on what that organisation does and the women whom it helps.

That should not be happening, especially in the middle of a recession and under a Scottish Government that seeks a 50 per cent increase in tourism.Although this is outside my region, I was asked at a recent reception in Parliament by a lady from Kinross to highlight the appalling plight of that town.

The race day at Musselburgh racecourse attracted a crowd of more than 1,500 people, and feast ‘n’ folk gave locals and visitors the chance to enjoy traditional music and a delicious Scottish menu at more than 14 bars and restaurants in the area.
