Could you explain in more detail than is in the written submission how the IP will operate in WaveEnergyScotland’s model? I understand that a certain amount already has been acquired from Pelamis that resides now with WaveEnergyScotland.
Despite progress with improvements in energy efficiency, the Climate Change Committee states that the bulk of the challenge to decarbonise buildings in Scotland remains.
Overheating and heat waves
There is a perception that overheating is not a serious problem for Scotland because of its cool climate, but increasing evidence suggests this is too simplistic.1Howarth, C., Kantenbacher, J., Guida, K., Roberts, T., & Rohse, M. (2019).
The Committee asked whether additional funding would be made available to transport authorities and highlighted the wider challenges facing bus services across Scotland.
Firstly, one of the key challenges of the energy transition is balancing the increase in intermittent renewable energy technologies (e.g. wind, solar, wave), fed into local and national grids.
Funding secured in Scotland
Between 2014 - 2019, a number of different projects in Scotland benefited from funding from the CEF Energy and CEF Telecom programmes.
In addition, we continue to work collaboratively with other governments to accelerate progress towards Scotland’s economic and emissions reduction targets - including through the development of a Strategic Spatial Energy Plan (SSEP) for Great Britain, which the Scottish Government has co-commissioned.
We will continue our successful warmer homes Scotland and area-based schemes, which are aimed at people in fuel poverty, as well as our generous Home EnergyScotland advice, grants, loans and funding for social homes.
