Trusts and Succession(Scotland) Bill
The Bill was introduced on 22 November 2022. Its purpose is to change the law in relation to two areas:
trusts: how they are administered and managed; and
succession: who has the right to inherit and in what order when someone dies without a will.
The Committee also considered Regulations on the design of the procedure for local authorities to issue exemption orders at its meeting on 1 November 2022. This discussion provided an opportunity for the Committee to question the Minister on how these Regulations are now being implemented.
It was told in 2019-20, 41,331 male deer were killed out of season; FLS culled about 11,000 male deer out of season in 2022-23.
The Committee went on to discuss a number of issues relating to the instrument.
Overview of the Bill
This Government Bill was introduced by the former Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Housing, and Local Government, Shona Robison MSP, on 15 November 2022. The lead committee is the Social Justice and Social Security Committee.
The Committee wrote to the UK Government on 12 July 2022 regarding the scrutiny of delegated powers in UK Parliament bills conferred on UK Ministers in devolved areas and the application or otherwise of SI Protocol 2.
