As of Q2 2023, Dumfries and Galloway had: • 490 operational wind turbines • 275 turbines consented and awaiting construction • 426 turbines in planning, many of which are significantly taller than those currently in operation This represents over 11% of Scotland’s total wind turbines, and in 2022 alone, the region generated 2,127.4 GWh, contributing 8% of Scotland’s total renewable electricity output.
