All dental practices offering NHS general dental services (GDS) are inspected on a three-year rolling cycle. Activity within GDS is monitored, and independent examinations/reports are carried out of both planned and completed treatments, with the quality of treatment reported back to the dentist and the NHS board.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde advise that, to improve patient flows during peak activity, there are additional beds available across all maternity hospitals that can be accessed immediately to meet demand.
This includes having regard to the codes of practice which require that consideration be given to whether the activity is an appropriate use of the legislation and a reasonable way, having considered all reasonable alternatives, of obtaining the necessary result.
In that way, pension schemes can continue to offer a fair deal to active and retired members, to employees, and to the public purse which directly or indirectly provides much of the current and future funding.
