If there is economic growth, and it delivers opportunities for new work, new business and new employment, that will create opportunities for people to get back into work, to get the self-respect of work and to look after their families properly.
That is why the Conservatives are committed to delivering an extra 1,000 nurses for Scotland. However, that does not get us away from the record that the SNP Government is creating.

The experience in Whitesands was that the authority was able to get the response in place in time, which demonstrates the value of such investment.We have had a steady programme to extend the parts of the country that are covered, and we most recently launched the scheme at the River Carron at Stonehaven.
I welcome the First Minister’s words and the sentiments behind them, but the facts remain that nurses say that the problems are getting worse and not better, and that one in three is bullied.
That is a record that we will try to continue. I do not want to get drawn into a debate about whether particular transport projects are supported or not in policy terms.
The issue is whether we should raise points with the minister or cabinet secretary in correspondence and see whether the response addresses those points suitably before deciding to get them before us, or whether we simply go straight to having them before us.
