I believe that it would be best to change the procedures by repatriating the ultimate powers of the House of Lords to the High Court of Justiciary and the other courts in Scotland that have served us well.As I said, the House of Lords is an anachronism from 1707. We live in the European Union after the treaties of Maastricht, Amsterdam and Nice.

I have not been to the prawns, except for a year or two long ago. The prawn men have had a decent living recently, but if the cuts are implemented, even in smaller measure, some of the white-fish boats will be pushed on to the prawns and that will be the end of them, too.

I suspect that the broadband and internet facilities of Scotland will not be overloaded by people watching live broadcasts of the committee, but the opportunity should exist and people should know that that is available.There is a contrast between this debate and yesterday's debate on a Standards and Public Appointments Committee report.
