Supported by: Kenneth Gibson*, Sarah Boyack* *S6M-00501 Pauline McNeill: Increase in Domestic Abuse Cases—That the Parliament understands that there were almost 10,000 reported incidents of domestic abuse in Glasgow over the last year; believes that, in eight out of 10 incidents, the aggressor was male and the victim, female, and that common assault accounted for 34% of cases; further believes that, over the same period across Scotland, reported incidents rose by 4%; considers these figures to be a stark reminder of the scale of the violence women face; believes that women’s aid charities and advice centres should receive the funding needed to support women living with domestic abuse, and urges the Scottish Government and Police Scotland to show leadership in tackling what it sees as this stain on society.
