To ask the Scottish Executive how often Ministers have met representatives of the Scottish Consultative Council on the Curriculum since 1 June 1999, on what dates these meetings took place and what issues were discussed.
The task force does not hold a budget, but the Scottish Executive reimburses members for travel and associated expenses incurred in carrying out the group's work. To date the group has met on nine occasions.

In Scotland it does this in partnership with the Scottish Executive and contributing Scottish organisations as indicated in the answers to question S1W-5969 also answered today.The total number to the end of January 2000 was 9,340 and this represented 60% of those who had moved into sustained employment by that date. This scheme provides capital grants to assist companies to take freight off the roads and on to rail and inland waterways. To date the Executive has received no applications or notes of interest for grants for rail freight links to airports.

There have been two Public Transport Fund competitions held to date. In the first competition, for projects commencing in 1999-2000, 17 bids were received with 12 awarded funding. 26 bids were received in the second competition for projects commencing in 2000-2001 of which 21 have been awarded funding.

The pay and conditions of nursery nurses are the responsibility of their employers, whether local authorities or operators in the private and voluntary sector; and as such are determined through local pay bargaining.The Executive is working with the early years sector to develop the careers structure for nursery nurses and other staff in early education, childcare and playwork. To date, this work has included:The establishment of an Early Years National Training Organisation;The development of a new qualification suitable to senior practitioners;Improved careers information.The Executive will bring forward proposals for further action later in the year.

The Executive was aware, however, of the general French view in favour of herd-based arrangements through the clarification discussions between the UK, France and EU Commission on the Date Based Export Scheme. Scottish Executive officials were involved throughout these discussions.
