SPCB Supported Bodies Landscape Review Committee
The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body (SPCB) Supported Bodies Landscape Review Committee was established in December 2024, after the Bill had been introduced. It was set up in response to the findings of a Finance and Public Administration Committee inquiry into Scotland’s commissioner landscape.
For example, during Stage 1 scrutiny of the Victims, Witnesses and Justice Reform (Scotland) Bill, the Criminal Justice Committee heard from women with lived experience of sexual crime and the criminal justice system.
We have replaced a sample survey with comprehensive data on the performance of pupils right across the country. We have taken a survey that looks at a handful of pupils and replaced it with data on every pupil across Scotland.

We need the new projects, but we also need to learn lessons from, for example, the Barlinnie project. That is right. If it can work in Liverpool, it can work in Scotland.
