Can you give us an example of how additional funding—and how much funding, if you could possibly put a figure on it—would allow the SFC to develop further?
As you know, I have in the past asked quite a lot of questions on behalf of the college sector about when it might have clarity on the flexibleworkforcedevelopmentfund. Disappointingly for colleges and for me, you wrote to us on 20 and 21 December 2023 to confirm that the fund has been cut.
SSSC response: The role of the NSWA has not yet been defined. However, the objectives cover workforce planning, terms and conditions, training and development and improvement at a national level, all factors in workforce pressure.
National, regional, and local planners to consider staff training needs to enhance opportunities for the primary care workforce to further develop rewarding and attractive careers.
The recent Scottish Budget did no fully utilise the tax raising powers of the Scottish Parliament which casts doubt on social care being adequately funded so that the workforce are valued and services are properly funded.
