Background and context
This briefing is the result of a joint project between SPICe and a research team from the University of Glasgow and Heriot Watt University, funded by SPICe and the ESRC.
They are also not allowed to specify that an applicant gets a divorce or no longer lives with another person in order to be allocated housing. Landlords cannot set a minimum time that an applicant spends on the housing list before they can be allocated a home.
We are providing local authorities with £21.75 million to help families, who are eligible for free school meals on the basis of low income, with the cost of buying food during the 2023-24 school holidays.
