There is good evidence that care in specialised stroke units reduces the number of deaths, leads to fewer admissions to long-term care and increases the number of patients able to return home to independent living. S1W-28410
I am advised that the petitioner, who is in Finland, is watching the meeting live. He may take up the offer to correspond with the minister on the issue.
However, the Executive is resisting release. We are talking about a live issue.I commend Bill Alexander, who is a serious man, for ensuring that the case went as far as the Court of Session.
We understand that we need sustainable arrangements that are adapted to the needs of consumers, including those who live in rural areas. We also need to recognise the network's wider social and economic value and take account of the distinct needs of Scotland's remote areas.
Can the minister give an assurance that resources and powers will continue to be made available to the police and other agencies to ensure that the decent majority of residents in such areas can reclaim their neighbourhoods from the tyranny of the small minority who make their lives a misery? I can certainly give those assurances.
I believe that God wants us to know a love beyond any love that this world knows and a peace beyond our understanding. He wants us to be able to live in his grace and to understand what that means for us, both right now and for life everlasting.
The minister will be aware that I have raised on several occasions with the Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning the difficulties that are faced by residents in my constituency who live significant distances from exchanges that have been enabled for broadband.
Of course, pensioners have the right to live in dignity. Since 1996-97, 120,000 pensioners have been lifted out of relative low-income categories, with three quarters of pensioners being lifted out of absolute low-income categories.
