European Union Directives(Genetically Modified Crop Trials) To ask the First Minister whether the Scottish Executive will make representations to the European Commission seeking an urgent review of European Union directives governing genetically modified crop trials, in light of decisions by insurance companies not to provide insurance as reported in the Sunday Herald on 10 March 2002. (S1F-1743) The European directive that governs the release of GM organisms has recently been revised to improve procedures relating to the release of GM crops and informing local communities.
