He probably carried out a good job in the 1920s, but we are not in the 1920s. We have moved on. Lay justice is an important part of the criminal justice system and should be bolstered, but the difference that the Executive proposes in the bill should strengthen rather than weaken, as David Mundell seemed to suggest, lay justice.We should not support amendments 25 and 26.
