Supported by: Paul Sweeney*, Douglas Lumsden*, Sharon Dowey* *S6M-03874 Sharon Dowey: Former Cumnock Academy Pupil Takes Part in British Veterinary Project—That the Parliament recognises the work of Cumnock’s Luke McBlain as he stars in a new guide to entice people to study veterinary medicine at universities across the United Kingdom; notes that Luke moved from Cumnock to study at the University of Glasgow in 2018, and is now taking part in a programme called Applying to Study Veterinary Medicine, which was created by the British Veterinary Association and others; acknowledges that this programme aims to bust some myths that it believes parents, carers, teachers and careers advisers have regarding the veterinary profession; understands that Luke will be promoting veterinary medicine to bust the straight A grades myth to try and solve the issue with a shortage of people applying to become a vet across the country; considers that this programme will inspire students to apply for veterinary medicine at university, especially those who think that the degree is out of their reach, and wishes Luke well as he continues to improve access to veterinary medicine across the UK.
