There is a clear correlation between the experience of major trauma in people's lives and many of the social problems to which we end up having to respond.
Do members have views on the petition? The petition is very live. The Communities Committee will deal with the forthcoming planning bill in due course, so I suggest that we refer the petition to it to consider as part of its scrutiny of the planning bill.
The use of a tag must be seen as a trigger, perhaps, for other support measures to be put in place.Experience in England has been that children who were tagged spent more time just lying in bed, watching television and vegetating, rather than doing anything constructive.

To ask the Scottish Executive how many households in rural Scotland are living in fuel poverty. The Scottish House ConditionSurvey for the year from October 2003 to September 2004 estimates that around 109,000households in rural Scotland are living in fuel poverty.
