The Executive has targets in place to reduce the number of recorded incidents of serious violent crime and to increase the detection rate, both of which are to be achieved by March 2006. The latest statistics show that non-sexual crimes of violence across Scotland decreased by 3% between 2003-04 and 2004-05.
