Wet wipes containing plastic The United Kingdom Internal Market Act 2020 (Exclusions from Market Access Principles: Single-Use Plastics) Regulations 2022, which came into force in August 2022, provided for an exclusion from the UKIMA market access principles for many single-use plastic items (such as plastic cutlery, plastic drinking straws, and polystyrene food and drinks containers) that had previously been banned in Scotland (as of June 2022) under the Environmental Protection (Single-use Plastic Products) (Scotland) Regulations 2021.iAn October 2022 SPICe blog considers the UKIMA implications of Scotland's ban on single-use plastics in more detail.
