The Committee met with Rebecca Machin, Head Teacher of Kinlochleven High School to discuss her experience of leading a school in a rural area of Scotland, adopting a whole school approach and working on issues such as LGBTI rights and how the community welcomed children from Syria.
The Committee therefore recommends that the Scottish Government revisits this key element of the Bill, in light of the evidence the Committee has heard.
I am also confident that we will have the analytical tools to ensure that we are aware of the level of participation in connection with the living wage and its application in Scotland. The aspiration for me is for the public sector to drive the living wage right across Scotland and for the private sector to start taking it up as well.
