We have also funded the Centre for Excellence for Looked After Children in Scotland to develop and deliver a programme of suicide and self harm training for senior managers in social work, health and education.
We also need to ensure that we continue developing Scotland’s young workforce, because the qualifications and awards in that approach are really valuable.
This morning, we are focusing on Police Scotland. I refer members to papers 1 and 2.I welcome to the meeting Chief Constable Jo Farrell; Deputy Chief Constable Alan Speirs, who is Police Scotland’s DCC for professionalism and enabling services; and Sarah Roughead, who is chief financial officer.
The specific fiscal measures would have to be designed carefully, but they would make a material difference very quickly and would be transformational if we got them right. Measures relating to the tax bills of large estate owners would be one incentive that might lead to more letting of land in Scotland.
