The SCJC highlighted the need for a more unified approach to external affairs between the UK and Scottish Governments: “It is in no-one’s interests for the Scottish and UK Governments to be at loggerheads, and while legitimate difference of opinion and debate may help to clarify best policy, claims of “right” on the one hand, and refusals to discuss on the other, can only lead to less-than-best policy, confusion, and reduced feelings of confidence and security for the diverse communities both north and south of the border.”
