On our database, we have approximate dates for when properties became empty, so we have an idea of properties that have been empty for a longer period of time.
In weekend 4 in 2013, there were 66; this year, there were 25, and that was because it was a long public holiday—St Andrew’s day—weekend. The numbers that we are talking about, comparing 2013 with 2017, have reduced by 400 per cent or so.

Under a formal monetary union, interest rates would be set as they are now by the independent central bank acting for the whole of the Sterling Zone in order to ensure price stability.
The woman did not have the language, but she brought along bank statements at one stage, as the case worker was looking into whether she could get benefits.
The other point—and I accept that this is partly a reflection of the summer holiday season ending—is that our contact tracers are seeing a reduction in the number of positive cases coming through our test and protect data in which foreign travel is identified, so that is positive news as well.
