Prescription (Scotland) Bill: Stage 1 Report - Sections 6, 7 and 12: interruptions and extensions
Instead an entirely new twenty year period starts to run at the date of the interruption.
Broadly speaking, this means that the twenty year period can be halted by legal proceedings in the event of a relevant claim, and by a written statement or an act that shows the person thinks the obligation still exists, such as partly paying off a debt due.
