In 2018 to support the pipeline of new pharmacists we extended the number of NHS pre-registration pharmacists places we funded nationally from 170 to 200. In 2019 we committed to increasing pharmacy pre-registration places again in the Integrated Health and Social Care Workforce Plan.

The aims include improving the provision of co-ordinated health and social care and support, developing sustainable workforce models and ensuring high standards of person-centred care for those with neurological conditions, such as MS.
One example is our heat share project in Midlothian, in which we partnered with Sunamp and the green economy fund from SP Energy Networks on a development for over-55s.

At £21.7 billion, the overall financial envelope for Health and Social Care also reached record levels.Despite these substantial funding increases, significant challenges in service provision remain, including rising demand and workforce challenges.

Kids Operating Room also provide funding to the East and West African College of Surgeon's e-learning hub and provide sponsorship for individual scholarships - all with the aim of enhancing the skills of the workforce.
The European regional developmentfund is supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and is developing energy-efficient renewables technologies to help Scotland’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Another focus of the Committee’s budget scrutiny was the replacement of European Union Structural Funds in Scotland, post-Brexit.
